Solar Island Hybrid Power System or Hybrid Solar System is an Off-grid power system that combines PV systems with diesel generator or other renewable energy supply e.g. wind turbine to supply continuous electric power. The Hybrid system is suitable for the remote areas or islands where the cost of expansion utility grid is high. The hybrid power system provides reliable electricity from renewable energy source to supplement engine driven generators for remote island electrification or remote village electrification in off-grid areas. It has been demonstrated that hybrid energy systems (renewable coupled with conventional energy source) can significantly reduce the total life cycle cost of a stand-alone power supplies in many off-grid situations, while at the same time providing a reliable supply of electricity using a combination of energy sources.
