LEONICS' Solar Island Hybrid Power System or Hybrid Solar System is an Off-grid power system that combines PV systems with diesel generators and/or other renewable energy systems, (e.g. wind turbines, biogas units, small-scale hydropower, etc.) to supply continuous electric power. LEONICS Solar Fuel Saver systems are often integrated into these hybrid systems to enhance energy use efficiency. Hybrid systems are designed to operate in remote areas or islands where the cost of grid expansion is not economically feasible. Our hybrid power systems provide reliable electricity from renewable energy sources to supplement engine driven generators for remote island electrification or remote village electrification in off-grid areas. Hybrid energy systems (renewable energy coupled with conventional energy source) have been show to significantly reduce the total life cycle cost of stand-alone power supplies in many off-grid locations while simultaneoulsy providing a reliable supply of electricity from a combination of energy sources.
