UPS for ATM, Branches, and Core Banking Systems
Banks need UPS for nationwide ATM networks + Core Banking at headquarters — LEONICS delivers Small UPS 1-3 kVA for ATMs and Large UPS for Data Centers.
Design figures for a system sized to this use case. What a given site actually gets depends on its load shape, the PV and battery sizing and its tariff — the worked examples below show the inputs.
The Challenge
A bank does not have one system to look after. It has a great many small unattended sites, and a core that cannot stop.
- ATMs are unattended — When the UPS at an ATM fails, the first person to find out is usually a customer who cannot withdraw cash.
- A fleet you cannot see — Hundreds of UPS spread across the country without a central portal means no one knows the state of any of them until someone calls.
- Core banking cannot pause — The core systems room needs UPS of the same class as a data centre, not of the same class as a branch.
ATMs take a small single-phase UPS, branches a mid-size one, and the core banking room a large True Online UPS. One monitoring portal sees every site.
